Schleich 'Christmas In A Mason Jar' DIY | MiniZoo Blog

Looking for some Christmas gift inspiration for your little animal lover? Look no further! We have come up with a solution that any animal figurine enthusiast will love: Christmas in a Mason Jar, Schleich style! These DIY jars will make the perfect gift, and they can also be used in place of a stocking, on the Christmas table for name placings, or even as party favours! It all depends on what you put in them, and how you decorate them.

I will be showing you two Christmas gift mason jars I have made.

What you will need to make one:

  • Animal figurine(s) - find the largest range of figurines at MiniZoo.
  • A mason jar*
  • Glue (hot glue works well if you want to take your figurine off again or superglue if you want a more permanent finish)
  • Candy canes
  • Small Christmas baubles
  • Wrapped lollies or chocolate
  • Ribbon
  • Gift Tags
  • plus any other accessories you wish for :)

*please note the size of your mason jar before you buy things that may not fit in it! I used a 1L mason jar and a 500ml mason jar in these pictures.

You can use any kind of figurine to suit your style. Here we have used the Mojo White Tailed Fawn for the Christmas themed jar, and a Schleich Mini Shetty Mare for the gift jar. Leave them alone for a natural look, or you could paint them for an extra special touch. We also included a Schleich Mini Shetty Stallion and Schleich Mini Shetty Foal. Unfortunately, these Shetland ponies are retired from the Schleich range, but we do still offer a number of other great options, just check out our entire range at MiniZoo

Step-by-Step:

  1. glue-deerGlue figurine on lid and set aside to dry. (Paint if desired)
  2. While the glue is drying, fill your jar! Start with some soffake-snowt touches for filling (I used fake snow) and add candy canes, baubles and extra figurines as you wish.
  3. When your lid has dried, put it on the jar then wrap the lip with some ribbon or twine, attach a gift tag, and that's it!

The first jar I used Christmas decorations to fill, and is ideal as a name place or a party favour for your guests. The second jar (as well as Christmas decorations) is filled with Schleich accessories suited to the figurine on top. This idea makes the perfect gift for any collector and you can add your own personal touch to it.

Get creative and fill up your jar with whatever you wish! For a magical touch, you could add fairy lights, or some tinsel to make it more Christmas-y. Stationary supplies, homemade goodies - basically whatever you can get to fit in there!
