Sumatran Rhino

I never write reviews, but I am so pleased with this model that I feel compelled to do so in this case. The Sumatran rhinoceros is the least known and most interesting rhino species. It is virtually unknown to the entire world. It is not a feature of wildlife documentaries or popular campaigns. Indeed, so few people know that the two-horned rhino with red fur survives in Asia that it might as well be a dinosaur. Because of Chinese traditional medicine, this amazing creature is almost extinct, with fewer than 70 left alive on the entire planet. And this is a shame. It is the only near relative to the extinct woolly rhinoceros left on earth. It is also the smallest and most primitive surviving rhino. And I think it is the most endearing. This small (1 ton!) forest rhino deserves to be famous and saved. Thus I as excited to learn a figure had been made of it. I assumed it couldn't possibly capture the complex mix of red hair and prehistoric-looking head, but it did! It is possibly the finest animal model I have ever owned. I cannot recommend this model enough and I hope that it's existence does something to stir our hearts and ensure that we save the Sumatran rhinoceros from extinction.
